Making merit with persuasion vs. without persuasion

Question: Which condition will get me more merit between there is someone persuading me to make merit or there is not?

Will people who ordain gain more merit from their studies during the Buddhist Lent season than ordination at other times.

It is a tradition to have our children ordain for the duration of the Buddhist Lent season so that they can study Buddhism. I would like to know if they gain more merit from their studies during this period than ordination at other times.
